Admiral has been named the most admired company in the insurance sector for the second year running at the Management Today Britain’s Most Admired Companies award ceremony.
Admiral was 29th out of 230 companies in the overall list of Most Admired Companies which was headed by Unilever who knocked BSkyB off the top spot. Other well known names in the list include Rolls-Royce, Tesco and HSBC.
Now in its 18th year, Management Today's Britain's Most Admired Companies awards offer a unique insight into the real factors behind corporate reputation.
Winners are identified by peer review: Britain's top companies and their bosses are asked to assess their rivals, a revealing exercise that really gets to the heart of what makes businesses succeed. Britain's Most Admired Companies awards celebrate that vital ingredient: what it takes to be admired by your closest rivals. They are the only awards of their type in the UK.
To arrive at the overall positions, nine measures of success are used, and Admiral appeared in the top 10 scores for two of these; Quality of Management and Quality of Marketing. However, in the insurance sector we were top in seven out of the nine criteria.
