| Staff at major local employer Admiral put their best feet forward and raised more than £2000 for children's charity LATCH. Eight staff from Admiral's Customer Services department, dressed in mascot outfits and wigs, climbed local landmark Kilvey Hill in support of LATCH, the Welsh children's cancer charity. Rhys Bevan, the department's trainer, said, "Comic Relief Does Kilimanjaro was the inspiration; they were getting some exercise, having a laugh and raising money for a good cause at the same time." LATCH coordinator Denise Henderson said, "I'd like to thank Admiral for choosing to support the children and young people in Wales who suffer from cancer and leukaemia, we are very grateful for their support." The department raised £1000, which Admiral matched under its Community Chest scheme, bringing the total to £2000. The group made the 193-meter climb in 40 minutes. The descent took just 25 minutes. In addition to the sponsored hill climb, the department raffled prizes including a 'choose your own shift' award. Pictured: Admiral Group Customer Services staff after their charity climb. |
