| Friday 30th October saw Admiral staff take over Cardiff’s Tiger Tiger for the grand final of Admiral’s Got Talent in order to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust through the 2009 Million Makers initiative. The evening featured the standout acts from the recent auditions held in Cardiff, Swansea and Newport (which you can see on Admiral TV). 11 finalists battled it out, showcasing solo singers, bands, a rapper and a duo who interpreted Usher’s Yeah via the medium of dance. The evening was hosted by Matt Lissack from Red Dragon Radio, and was even covered by OK! Magazine (look out for a feature in the latest edition). Judges Jamie Shaw, Glyn Wise (Big Brother) and drag queen Bella had a challenging task separating the acts, as the standard of performances was, um…varied, but thoroughly entertaining! After considering the merits of each act, the judges came to a final decision and awarded third place to Jodie and Matt (Cardiff CS) and second place to Logan Saunders (Cardiff Renewals). But the winner, with a fantastic rendition of A New Life from the musical Jekyll and Hyde, was Gladiator’s Emily Waters. Congratulations to Emily who was crowned Admiral’s Got Talent Champion 2009! Expertly organised by Michelle Evans, Kris Burns, Denzil Hopkins, Alex Deem, Mark Andrews, Mike Williams and Wayne Driscoll from the Million Makers team, the event went off smoothly and in the process raised well over £2000 for the Prince’s Trust. Here’s to next year’s event – can Cardiff take the title from Swansea? Dave Bates Million Makers is a national enterprise challenge that will see a group of 16 staff from Admiral battling it out with nearly 70 other companies nationwide to raise the most money. The cash will go towards supporting young entrepreneurs on The Trust’s Business Programme. The Admiral team have already raised a clear profit of £12,403 for the Trust and will be working hard to boost this total even higher over the coming three months. Watch this space! |
