It was an ordinary Thursday night in the coastal town of Llandudno and representatives from across the UK were gathered together to celebrate the National Training Awards.
Unbeknownst to the Blackhorse delegation they were about to be thrust into the limelight as the winners for the “Best Training Initiative for Large Businesses”
Blackhorse entered the piece of work that was completed by the Personal Finance Training Team for the Call Reception Department induction during the summer of 2008. The training programme used a blended learning approach which involves workshops, computer-based training, job shadowing and a sales coach. The involvement of Senior Management and key support staff, including Nick West, Olivia Jones, Lucy Gitson and the Sales Coaches within Call Reception in the development of the programme have proved critical to its enduring success. Building trust and understanding has led to vast improvements in all key areas. This was not simply a training package but a reflexive programme for developing new staff.
Blackhorse were selected from 800 entries to go forward to the finals where the PFS Training Team beat off the competition from 15 other finalists to take home the award.
