| Staff at local employer Gladiator won a hat trick of trophies at the recent West Wales Association of Communications Centre Outstanding Contribution Awards 2009. The van insurance broker, which is part of the Admiral Group, had three finalists hoping for a win at this year’s gala dinner held in the Marriott Hotel Swansea last Saturday (21 November). This is the first time a single company has won three awards in one night since the event began in 2001. Steve Griffin won Customer Service Advisor of the Year, and Giles Davies took Outstanding Contribution and Support in the Workplace. Paul McLaren also won in his category, Customer Sales Advisor of the Year, and this is the second time Paul has won this award in three years. This marks another milestone because it is the first time the same person has won it - in fact, the award is very special to Gladiator because they’ve won it four times in the past five years! Paul said, “I was really caught off guard when my name was called. I’ve won the award in the past and the competing entries sounded impressive, so I was hoping for a win but wasn’t completely confident about it, which is unlike me to be honest.” Gladiator has been going from strength to strength having also won the Admiral Group top accolade of Best Department, beating nine other departments across South Wales. Chris Price, Gladiator managing director, said, “We’re all very proud of Steve, Paul and Giles. It’s great to see them recognised by the industry for all their hard work and commitment.” The awards celebrate the achievements of finalists in ten categories. |
