Cardiff Tesco creates a choir for Red Nose Day

We recently took part in a Red Nose Day choir which created a massive buzz and a huge amount of fun in the call centre.

Ops Manager Michelle Dunn leads the community plan here in Cardiff and she was invited by a company called 'Sing and Inspire' who were looking for choirs from call centres in Cardiff who would like to get together, have a taster session and then sing in a big choir with an overall aim to raise £1,000 for comic relief.

X-factor style auditions (called "Nose Factor") were held in the centre with the best 30 being selected and given a golden ticket. The judges fitted into their roles well with our very own Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Cheryl Cole being filled by Keith Myers-Sleight, Suzanne Cox and Michelle Dunn.

The rehearsal was held in the centre and created a bit of an audience, but I'm sure they were just our groupies. During the rehearsal we were taught vocal exercises, breathing techniques, posture, tone and pronunciation.

On the day our setting was the oval basin in Cardiff Bay, made famous in Dr Who spin-off Torchwood. Along with around 70 other singers we belted out the song "Islands In The Stream" which is the comic relief single. On the day we managed to raise £580 towards their target of £1,000. The event was a great success for them and for the service centre as we will surely be singing again.
