Monthly Munch

Here at Admiral we all enjoy a nice meal out once in a while so we thought it would be a good idea to pass on our recommendations to staff. Not only do we now have an excuse to go out for a 3 course meal once a month but we can make sure that we give an honest review of where we are eating. We will be alternating between restaurants in Swansea and Cardiff from month to month. Hopefully we can help with that tricky decision of where to spend our incentive payments on team nights out. Truffle is a popular restaurant in Swansea and is split into two sections; we were in the louder area! Four of us from the Admiral crew were welcomed by a friendly waitress. She opened our bottles of wine (they have a take your own drink policy) and provided ice for my 12 bottles of Rose (joking, I had 2).

The menu had a good selection of starters. Between us we ordered the hummus with flatbread, the minestrone soup, the garlic mushrooms and the chicken liver pate. We all had a nibble of each others’. They were tasty and the perfect size. For main we ordered the Moroccan lamb tagine, the grilled fillet of salmon, the roast breast of chicken with creamed leeks and the roast belly pork with apple mash. The lamb was tender and juicy, the salmon was oozing with flavour and the chicken was soft and delicious. The only issue with the mains was that the pork crackling was limp and moist not crispy!

Time came to order dessert and I was pretty full so ordered the vanilla ice cream. We also indulged in the chocolate torte and the cheese and biscuits. One of the party enjoyed the pate so much he ordered it again! The desserts were lovely but the cheeses could have been better.

Overall we had a pleasant dining experience however the starters arrived very quickly leading me to believe they weren’t cooked to order. Apart from that it was fantastic value for money and the service was second to none. The atmosphere in the restaurant was fun and energetic and the interior was clean, modern and inviting. I would recommend it to anyone.
