Most recently we launched our annual summer internship – but this time virtually. Six summer interns joined us working in three different areas – Tech Talent (our very own HR hub dedicated to attracting, developing and engaging employees for our Tech and IT departments), Household Product and Marketing.
They started their Admiral journey with a week-long virtual induction which consisted of interactive workshops focussed on Admiral, our unique business culture, the wider industry and team building.
Throughout their six-week internship the interns also received department-specific training and workshops on presentation skills and project management. Managers and teams from around the business hosted presentations and Q&A sessions so that our new-starters really got the chance to find out more about our business, with areas including: HR, Risk Management, Pioneer (our internal start-up hub designed to seed, launch and scale new business initiatives), AFSL (our financial services sector start-up), Pricing, Travel Insurance and more – all while building up a strong network within the company.
Here’s what one of our interns (and soon to be graduate) had to say:
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Admiral, I was lucky enough to be part of the Tech Talent Team and worked on a number of projects that had a big impact. Even with the experience being online, I was welcomed into Admiral’s amazing culture from the start and managed to form great connections with the other interns and my team members. The internship was very flexible and allowed me to explore various areas of the business in the short time that I was there, this part of the experience stood out for me as usually internships and graduate programmes can only show you one specific career path. I am looking forward to working at Admiral again and continuing to be part of the Admiral family once I complete my degree”.
– Emily, Summer Intern and Economics Student at Cardiff University.
Following the success of the virtual internship and other internal talent development initiatives, we are eager to continue nurturing talent at all levels and in diverse areas of the business – next up are our core and analyst graduate programmes starting in late September, swiftly followed in January by placements within the consortium’s Welsh Financial Services and Fast Track Data/AI Graduate Programmes.
With strong financial results announced in August and several awards for being a great employer, there couldn’t be a more exciting time to join us!
