After raising a fantastic total of £12,033 last year, we extended our partnership with Shelter Cymru with their work needed more now than ever before.
Our colleagues and members have made a tremendous effort in supporting Shelter Cymru, getting involved in a range of great initiatives.
August saw the launch of our Three Peak Challenge, from cycling, walking or running the full distance, a group of our colleagues achieved the distance of the Welsh 3 peaks! This challenge was great for our wellbeing by encouraging us to stay active and also raised £400 for our charity of the year.
Our Branches have come up with their own fundraising activities which our members have really engaged with. Our colleagues in Head Office have also hosted some great raffles and bake-offs which have been a lot of fun and raised money as a bonus.
For every mortgage rate switch from May to October, we donated £5 to Shelter Cymru as our pledge to help more people in Wales secure housing.
In addition to our support to Shelter Cymru, we’ve remained committed to the wellbeing of our colleagues and members.
Throughout the various lockdowns and restrictions, we’ve continued with our ‘In Touch’ initiative, where we contacted our members to check in on their wellbeing. This was well received by our members and meant that we could continue to offer our personal service which is really important to us.
For our colleagues, we have run several health and wellbeing webinars and launched the Society’s first ever virtual running club, open to staff of all fitness levels. More recently, we have rolled out our Wellbeing Advent Calendar and have numerous quizzes planned over the Christmas period.
Despite the challenges we’ve faced this year, we’re really proud of how the Society has come together to support Shelter Cymru, our members, but also one another.
We really appreciate everyone who has donated on behalf of the Society and we’re really pleased to be supporting Shelter Cymru during these unprecedented times.
