Welcome to our Summer Newsletter!

Welcome to our Summer Newsletter

It’s been an incredibly busy first half of 2022 and compared to this time last year, when we had only recently seen the lifting of restrictions in Wales, it certainly feels like things have ramped up for everyone.

A lot has happened since our last newsletter with both our Data/AI and our Financial Services Programme’s running simultaneously. We’ve been pleased with the progress of graduates in both disciplines. Not only are we getting strong feedback from their host employers, but they’re also achieving fantastic results in their academic work.

Our Data/AI Graduates are now half way through their placements and are all on track to excel in the achievement of their PG Dip in Data/AI.  We’ve already had requests from employers who want to offer their graduates permanent positions and over the coming weeks expect the number of job offers will increase. The demand for data skills has never been higher and we’re proud to be working with the industry to help develop professional candidates in this field.

Our Financial Service graduates all took up their second placements following our successful rotation event earlier this year. This is a great opportunity for them to experience a different job role and work environment which will help them start to get a clearer picture of what career paths they want to follow.   They continue to work toward their Masters in Business Management and again are all on track to excel.

The Programme has seen some further changes with Deb Shaw our Programme Liaison Manager moving on to a permanent position with Deloitte.  Deb was a great asset to the programme and we wish her every success for the future.  Liz Ward has taken up a secondment to ensure all the graduates have a point of contact until we fill the position.  You can read more about Liz in the newsletter.

I am thrilled to say that we have been shortlisted in two of the Fintech Award categories. We have a finalist in the Rising Star category with Oliver Johnson who was on the 2021 data / AI programme and are also finalists in Best Academic Programme with the University of South Wales.

Finally we are planning a summer networking event on the 4th August so that all our graduates can meet each other as well as the employers, our University partners and stakeholders.  This will be a key event for everyone as its been far too long since we all got together.

I hope you enjoy the rest of our updates from the quarter.
